When I began teaching Spanish, I worried when children would only reply with 1-2 words. I wanted them to reply in full sentences.

As I started researching, beyond teaching methods, and really understanding how language is acquired, I realized that these 1-2 word responses were not only to be expected, but they also provided information about the student’s level of comprehension.
