Can babies start speaking as soon as they are born?

Familias,

Nature is wise. It allows 1-2 yrs. for babies to simply absorb the language (the silent period). Because of the baby’s physiology, nobody expects them to talk when they’re a week, two months, or even six months old. Babies have 1-2 yrs.f of full immersion, 24/7, comprehensible input in their native language before they are expected to even say one or two words.

Is this what happens in the “traditional” language classroom? Absolutely not! In fact, students are expected to start repeating phrases and sentences within the first day…

Feliz Viernes!
